Hello fellow EVE gamers,
at this point we are asking for your help. On behalf of many other (incursion) players. This might seem a little overreacted to some of you, but on the other hand...knowing that even in the gaming world people still care for each-other should mean something. I do hope to get serious responses, or at least to reach out to the member in question: Jill Antaris. We are seriously concerned.
Case: At this point our beloved Jill Antaris hasn't been seen online since November 5th 2014. He's is a well known player, at least to the Incursion community. He vanished without a word, while being founder and most important Fleet Commander of the Open Incursion Channel (OIC Armor incursion channel).
So far known, It's severely unlike him to be gone this long. We're trying to get a hold onto him, by tracing back his fleets, channels, previous corps/alliances. So far no one has heard from him, and no one has in/out-game contact or info with or from him.
CCP is already been contacted for help, but they can't do anything atm besides advising to contact local authorities.
Jill has been an EVE member for a very long time, we're sure someone out there must know something about him or his whereabouts.
We are aware that some people don't want to share his/her private contact info, or want to be contacted. That is completely understandable. And that some people just want to get a break from a game. I have received a lot of comments about that (and other...inappropriate comments sadly enough -.-) But none of these distant voices can speak for the member in question. And none of these distant voices can take away the concerns people have about an in-game char, although it's just a "stupid game char'. Jill is not stupid. There is a human still, behind that char. And our concerns are still very human behind our 'silly' chars.
So, and hereby the calling out:
Jill, if you are out there, please let us know that you are still alive. In any way that suits you. You know who you can contact.
Please, if you want to reply to this topic, stay on topic. Try to be respectful to your fellow gamers who are seriously concerned and to the ones that are missing. Thank you.

so i hope that he's doing ok and you get word, i know how annoying ti can be to wonder.
Ait :) I really do hope it's just IRL. But Jill started and founded a new community, he's not just some player as in an alliance or corp. He never walked out... I still do hope he's having a nice distraction now from EVE.
Sisohiv wrote: if you have any level of personal info on him - aka. He saw you as a friend, you could try facebook.
As i said before: none of us (or no one known to us) has outgame contact possibilities with Jill. But you are the second one that mentions FB. He once was asked for a FB account, to which he answered negative. Apparently he is 1 of those rare people that keeps certain things private and stays aways from social media. I don't blame him. But it makes it a little bit harder to get in contact with people.
We hoped he found a nice girl, or had other IRL things to do. But this is taking a little bit too long now...

Thank you :) If we receive any word from him, people will be notified.
I do hope that Jill receives this post in one way or another, and is able to respond. If he's sick and tired from EVE, i do hope this topic will let him know that there are still people out there wishing him all the best.
Thank you.

That being said, my last friend that mysteriously disappeared in the same context simply didn't have the funds to buy a new computer after he killed his due to neglect. He showed back up two months later.
Let's just still hope that's the 'case' ^^ |

I'm sorry..but what is FHC ? Thank you in advance :)
But bittervet...i don't think so; Jill is very much into searching, exploring and looking into EVE gameplay for a while, even him staring this OIC community made him very controversial, as anyone in the community knows...he's been mocked, pointed at, laughed at, etc. But he kept going on. That doesn't sound like a 'bittervet' to me... I might be wrong though... Time will tell...

Ok thank you. Looked into that link, i will ignore that post from Anslo. That was not nice and certainly not helpful.
We'll keep on searching, any helpful advice is appreciated! Thank you folks :) |

To be fair FHC may help, but I wouldn't roll a new account and post there. Try get someone with an account there already to do so. If it's in the right place they'll be nice, if not they'll trip over each other trying to troll it.
Aye...i already found a lead there and contaced a member...edited my previous post and made apologies to Anslo...my bad, im not into sites like these, sorry :/ |

Morihei Akachi wrote:I was once looking for someone. The local authorities knew where he was, but they quite rightly refused to tell me. Instead, they shot him a quick message with my contact details, and suggested that if he wanted he could get in touch (which he then did). Would CCP really have an issue with sending your friend a mail suggesting he take a look at GD if he hasn't lately? Then it's totally up to him if he wants to respond, and no personal info has been divulged.
CCP has been contacted already in this case. They pointed to the local authorities. So either we contact the authorities of Jills city, or we find other solutions. This is another solution.
But thank you :) We'll try to contact CCP once more.

Let's hope so :)
Reading previous posts I am aware of the 2 different sides on a matter like this: 1) the person in question really wants to be left alone; 2) something might have happened (good or bad).
Both are subject to speculation in this matter. And 2 things can be done: 1) do nothing; 2) do something.
If in case 1, my actions might not be appreciated. I totally took that into consideration before i started this topic. But i'm not willing sitting around and do nothing while people being worried.
I still hope Jill is around there somewhere, read this and might consider to give us a proof of life. After all...there are still people behind game chars, and being concerned about fellow players in my opinion is totally human. A lot of players come and go, some stay, some leave. Some you'll miss, some you don't. Jill is one of those that is missed and loved by a lot of people.
It might be 'sentimental' in some peoples eyes, but then again: * Some people separate their gaming life from RL, by crawling into their chars skin and leave it behind when logging out, * Some people consider their gaming life as a part of their social life. There is nothing wrong with either one of those. If Jill belongs to the first group, he totally won't care about this calling out. No harm done there. If he belongs to the second group, he will care and leave a message. No harm done there.
This is a calling out to a person that is being missed, not a discussion about different game plays and why or why not this topic should have been started. Like I said before; both possibilities are subject to speculation and I chose to do something, hoping that Jill is still ok and that he might contact one of us.
Thank you all for your support. |

Point already taken, and already taken into consideration. I'm sorry you feel offended.
I made a decision out of all the IFS i could think of. This seemed the best way. I made my decision, which i'm still supporting.
IF not, then i hope Jill will sue me for this :) Or at least get my vindi to be blown up in an incursion site. No regrets.
If you can't be helpful, please go somewhere else.
Thank you for your support tho.

Allright. This is getting bigger and more general. "How to deal with reports about players missing in action'
After CCP pointed me to authorities, I asked for more details and rules/laws concerning reports about missing players. I want to know the policies/laws/rules about that.
I have contacted several gaming communities about their policies concerning this matter. They do have the players IRL contact info, but they are bound by law and can't contact a player when players are reported missing. Except when ordered by authorities or next of kins. Totally understandable; if players decide to leave a game willingly then their privacy should be protected.
But what if it's not the case of 'willingly leaving'? There is no rule/law for that. Player still paying for his/her accounts, so there isn't any 'concern'. But...some players actually only have games to have social contacts..they (mostly) will only be missed by their fellow gamers. How to deal with that, then?
I asked some communities about that, and about the law/rules. Some responds i got back was: "... I am afraid that our Game Masters are not in a position be able to talk about this subject with great authority"
I then was pointed to their legal departments. That's a bit odd. But i will contact those departments, i want to know the rules and laws, but somehow they're not willing to provide me, except when i contact legal departments 8)
I now am looking for any law/rule about matters like this. In these times, when internet is getting more and more integrated into our lives and communities, there should be a possibility for checking upon players being reported missing in action. This means that there is some authority needed for game communities. There should be something possible, without needing to contact authorities.
Is there anyone out there with legal knowledge concerning this case? Can anyone point me to articles/laws concerning this case? Because this sure isn't the first case, and certainly won't be the last. |

Not to seem harsh here, but true friends would have personal contact info for the missing player. I'm sure his real life friends know exactly how he's doing. It's his virtual make-believe friends that seem to be having an issue here. Mr Epeen
I see. So what's your issue by posting this in a topic that is obviously not to your concern? Do you have more info?
Thank you in advance. |
